Ethical working

Here at LaBante London we believe that everybody in our supply chain should be treated with dignity and respect, we also believe that everyone should earn a fair wage. building a modern and resilient supply chain that can provide jobs, and foster people’s skills, we are committed to empowering women worldwide, which is why our design and production team is made up of 99% women.

We primarily manufacture in Guangzhou, China in a sweatshop free environment. Guangzhou is one of the richest provinces in China the workers especially in Guangzhou are paid very high wages to cover their living expenses.

We work very closely with our factories, and only work with factories that have SEDEX certification, in addition our founder and design team regularly visit, and perform spot checks and social audits as part of our due diligence processes, to ensure the workers and work environment are safe, we continually check payroll, attendance sheets, so no working double shifts, something that we are very proud of.

We think walking in sync with people from all races and backgrounds is very important. They are part of our extended family, so we choose to give back to that family. With 10% of LaBante London profits going to Charitable causes, we are trying to raise awareness and support for various charities every season. When you buy a LaBante London product you can choose the cause that resonates most to you, we then ensure 10% of the profit of sale goes directly to them to help build a better future. So every time you invest in the future, so do we!

Each year, Labante London donates at least 10% of its profits to charity, to date we have supported the following  charities:

PETA

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals.

St. John’s hospice

St John’s Hospice, an independent charity located within the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in St John’s Wood, provides specialised palliative care to more than 4,000 terminally-ill patients and their families every year.

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary

rescue farmed animals and give them care and sanctuary, connect animals with people to advance veganism, and advocate for animal rights in alliance with other social justice movements.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

Founder's Story

LaBante is a labour of love, born out of a combined love of animals, fashion and the wider planet. My adolescent experiences definitely stuck with me and shaped the brand’s philosophy of Fashion With Respect.

In my early teens I spent many happy hours in my uncle’s fashion company, watching the creation of beautiful garments for big name fashion brands and therein started my love of fashion.

When I was a little older and studying at university, another pivotal moment shaped my future. I used to pass a butcher’s shop where animals were kept alive and caged before being killed in front of customers for their meat. It was a pretty transforming and life-changing event in my life and from that moment I became a vegetarian.

After I finished my university degree I landed up in the United States and somehow got into banking for my career, but there was always a niggling thought in the back of my head that called me to combine my passion for vegetarianism and fashion. I believed there was a gap in the fashion industry to make high quality products that were not only beautiful and vied for, but were also cruelty free and sustainable at the same time being accessible.

LaBante started out really small in 2012 but grew from strength to strength as we received so much positive feedback and love from vegans, vegetarians, animal lovers and fashionistas all over the world. As we continued to expand, we had the pleasure of meeting fashion buyers who understood that change was coming and that the future was about ethics and sustainability. Encouraged and inspired, our brand has flourished it’s my promise to you that we will continue to develop beautiful and stunning designs and provide you with a range of vegan accessories all made with love that we hope you will wear with pride!
